“I am not able to walk away. I care about my staff and patients," said Advanced Practice Nurse, Judy Gros, who runs the Community Health Services clinic in San Marcos, Texas.

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - APRIL 25, 2022: Registered Nurse, Judy Gros, demonstrates how the NuvaRing form of birth control functions. Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas provides affordable family planning and reproductive health care at this Community Health Services Clinic in downtown San Marcos, a few blocks away from Texas State University. Their services include a wide variety of birth control methods, annual well woman exams, pregnancy testing, testing & treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, and a variety of other routine lab tests. Clinics like this one have closed in the surrounding area in recent years due to a lack of funding - but they are needed now, more than ever. Low-cost clinics help provide access to affordable birth control and prevent unintended pregnancies - an important service for women in Texas at a time when their state legislators are restricting abortion access after six weeks of pregnancy.
