President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were briefly evacuated from their Rehoboth Beach residence Saturday after a small plane mistakenly entered restricted airspace.
The president and the first lady were evacuated and are now back at their Delaware beach house with no threat apparent, according to the White House.
In a statement, the Secret Service said the aircraft was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace while a preliminary investigation showed that the pilot was not on the proper radio channel or following flight guidance procedures. The Secret Service said they will be interviewing the pilot.
“A small private plane entered restricted airspace, all indications are by mistake, and precautionary measures were taken," a White House official said. "There was no threat to the President or his family."
